To the Ecker Family:

Jimmy Ecker will be greatly missed.

He was a friend of Mechelli (Mickail) Family.

Rose and Leo had many dinners at their home where he enjoyed the best Italian dinners.

Rest in Peace & God Bless You.

I hope time passes quickly for you in your time of grief.

Jim was one of a kind. As Frank Sinatra would say, he did it his way. He will be missed.

What a loss to the City of Pittsburgh. Mr. Ecker was our Who's Who of the best Defense Attorneys; he was also our local celebrity and he belonged to us. He was exciting to watch and a pleasure to be around. He was known and respected everywhere. He treated all with respect and kindness. This was an incredible attorney who was not at all affected by his tremendous popularity. There is not another like him and that is sad.

Mr. Ecker, Barrister Extraordinaire, you will be missed beyond words.

To Donna and the Ecker family, I am so very sorry for your loss. My family and I had the honor of meeting Jim several years back. We all went to lunch one day and when we walked in, everyone turned and looked and people whispered "there's Jim Ecker." My mom said Jim, maybe we should have signs on us that say we're friends, not clients. Jim laughed, unphased by the looks he was getting. 2 local police officers were there and said "hello Mr. Ecker" when we walked by. Our server was staring at him and Jim very seriously, looked up, pointed to my brother (who is 6'5") and said, "this is my bodyguard, you better treat us well." Her jaw dropped and she walked away and Jim laughed and said, watch what great service we get now. He was, to me, a very different man personally then his public persona. He had a FANTASTIC sense of humor and always had us laughing. He had a gentle heart and tremendous compassion. Jim did quite a bit behind the scenes that the public wasn't even aware of. He above all was a gentleman! I stopped in to his office one day to say hello and ended up spending over an hour there looking at his scrapbooks and listening to his stories. I told Jim that he should write a book! I loved the picture of him dressed as a clown, entertaining children. I'm not sure who was having more fun, Jim or the kids. I suspect it was a tie! He once asked me if I knew why he became a Defense Attorney. My reply was, because they get paid a lot! He laughed and said " yeah, if you get paid!" He had a kind word for everyone. Jim was one of those few people that when you met him, you knew you would never forget him. The most important thing I will remember about Jim was how much love and pride he had in his family. He talked of them with such love and pride always! Jim was a good man and he was good to my family. We will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I hope you can find some peace in the fact that Jim was a wonderful human being! Rest in peace Jim.
