I followed the story from my home on LI with a lump in my throat, so worried for all of you. When they found Katy and the girls I was first elated, then increasingly upset when it became clear James probably had not survived..the conditions being so harsh. It was so shocking because it could have happened to any of us. Both Katy and her beloved husband gave everything and more than they had to save their family. "What greater love.."? James Kim caught my heart and is a true hero for the ages. They both are. What a beautiful man. I am so sad for Katy because he isn't still with her and their daughters. His parents and family will be so proud of this wonderful man, but I can't imagine how tough it will be to get over his loss. The World is lessened without him.

Although there are no words to really share the love, prayers, and care I am sending you and your loved ones, be sure they are there.

Dear Katie,
I was just thinking about you tonight. My husband is in heaven with James. My son was 17 months and soon to be adopted daughter was 3 months when he died very suddenly. I know you are strong, but I pray for more strength to you now. Our children had amazing Dads that we need to remind them of every single day. Love, Kristy

Dear Katie,
You have no idea how much we all feel for you. You have inspired me so much. You have come through a terrible tradgedy and continue to live with power and grace. Take care of those wonderful children who are so lucky to have you as their mom. Every time I think of James I feel incredibly sad but I marvel at his super human abilty to scale a mountain to save his beloved family. He will be remembered always for what he did.
God bless you Katie!!

If there was any way to take your pain away, we would. This is true, as your reality is true. I am sorry. I know that people have found peace in the worst of times, and I hope you can too.

I am so sorry for your loss. I followed your story from day one and was devastated when I learned of the tragedy. James was a wonderful husband and father who would stop at nothing to save his family. Please take comfort in knowing that he will continue to watch over all of you from Heaven above.
