I enjoyed his work over the years. I was very touched by his performance in The Shawshank
Redemption. God bless his friends and family who have known and loved. Keep hold of your memories.

Thank you for sharing your father with us over the years! He was a delightful actor and will be missed by so very many. I am pleased to learn that he lived long enough to see Barack Obama as our president - I'd like to think that his spirit thought that this was as good note as any to leave on. In time, may precious, loving memories fill the void that you are now experiencing at the loss of your father. My sincere condolences for your loss. Blessed Be.

Dear Whitmore Family,
I would like to express my sincere condolences regarding the passing of this gentle soul (Mr. James Whitmore). I had the great honor of meeting Mr. Whitmore at a Wilson Farms store in Buffalo, New York, were I worked back in the early 1990's. He was in search of a nearby hotel at the time after a long day of travel. I remember him asking for directions. I was shaking because Mr. Whitmore whom I admired through his movies was standing before me. It was so hard for me to speak due to the excitment I felt. When I finally did speak all I could do was stumble through my words. After directions were given he kindly said thank you, gave me a warm smile and walk out of the store. I would go on to never forget that brief moment. Mr. Whitmore I thank you for all you have done in your lifetime here on earth. You are in the arms of our Lord, and somehow I know heaven has become an even brighter place. I ask the Lord to give strength to the Whitmore Family for (They) hold you close together as one. Be not afraid, for you are never alone. The Angel walk with you always. God Bless...Love Sharon O'Connor

James will be missed very much. I loved to watch his movies. Just watching him showed he was a very caring person. His faced showed it.
