Rest in Peace my friend. You have fought a good fight.

Mr. Whitmore,
I'm sad to see you go. I loved a lot of your movies-Battleground, Battle Cry, Them, Tora, Tora, Tora; and The Shawshank Redemption as well as a lot of your other movie that I wish that I had seen. I would also like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USMC in the Pacific during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

The performing arts certainly lost a true and wonderful man.I am saddened because they don't make them like Mr.Whitmore anymore.Sir,I just, feel you were so great at your craft, and you put your heart into whom ever you were portraying. My sympathy to the Whitmore family.A legend indeed and a professional all the way.I believe you taken back seat to noone including greats like John Wayne Henry Fonda,Yul Brynner and so many more artists.May your family find peace and you have left a great void in the performing arts of the world.Sidney Stover Columbus,Ohio

Truly one of the best and most versatile actors of his time. He could work any role......God bless him and his family.
