George VanFossen Obituary
George W. VanFossen, 83, of Lafayette, passed away at home on Sunday, April 21, 2013. Born July 12, 1929 in Ocao, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fred O. and Saddie (Todd) VanFossen. George honorably served in the U.S. Army with the Anti Aircraft 102nd Air Battalion.
He married Anna Hennibert and she preceded him in death on August 12, 1983. He married Joyce Hinton on July 20, 1996 and she survives. George was a tile layer with Brick Layers Union Local #4. He was a member of Schuyler Avenue Wesleyan Church, American Legion Post #11, and B.A.C. Local Chapter #4. He enjoyed repairing bicycles.
Surviving with his wife are eight step-daughters, Candi Oliverio of Lafayette, Sharon Ford (husband, Larry) of Safford, AZ, Brenda Ford (husband, Stephen) of Largo, FL, JoAnn Zemolong of Columbus, OH, DeAnna Springhetti (husband, Frank) of Pleasantville, OH, Connie Wortherington, of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa Hayes of Lafayette, and Betty Demko (husband, Michael) of Lafayette, 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Schmidt and Pastor Justin Nierer officiating. Burial, with military honors, to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Schuyler Avenues Wesleyan Church. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
