James D. Harral
James D. "Jim" Harral, 64, of Lafayette, passed away at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital at 5:58 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Born August 29, 1948 in Bowling Green, KY, he was the son of the late James Austin and Mary Lou Harral.
Jim married Linda C. Jackson on October 22, 1964 in Bowling Green, KY and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2006. He worked for General Telephone, which later became Verizon, for 30 years, retiring in 2004. He then worked security at Westminster Village and owned and operated J & H Communications. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, especially at Raccoon Lake, boating with his family, and tinkering with electronics.
Surviving are his children, Sherry Montoya of rural Logansport, Sylvia Spelbring, Becky Harral, and James Donald Harral, Jr. all of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by a sister Georgia Horton and 2 infant brothers.
Visitation from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Thomas Jackson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Susan G. Komen at YWCA Tippecanoe County. Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care. Jim was a good friend and coworker of mine. We done a lot of jobs together at Verizon and GTE I always liked working with him. We made a good team. Ill miss you buddy. To his family I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good man and always loved helping people.

So sorry to hear this. Jim was an awesome guy. Always enjoyed chatting with him when he came to work on our phone system. RIP Jim.
