Neal E. Roy Sr., 78, of Brookston passed away at 10:29 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 3, 1936 in Lowell, Indiana to the late William P. and Mary E. (Crawford) Roy. He attended Lowell High School.
His marriage of nearly 51 years was to Linda J. Delaney on May 29, 1964 in Lowell; she survives.
Mr. Roy drove a truck for Teamsters Local 135 out of Lafayette and retired after 30 years of driving from LCL Transit in 1999.
Neal enjoyed trucking and looked forward to being home with his family. He also enjoyed country music and dancing and was a proud supporter of the Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Sheila Angel (husband: Frank) of Indianapolis, Neal Roy Jr. (wife: Michel) of San Leandro, CA, Gwen Purcell (husband: Ron) of Kentland, Glenda Banister (husband: Allen) of Morocco, Teresa Barrett (husband: Bobby) of Wolcott and Robert Roy (wife: Kim) of Delphi. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death with his parents are a son, Ben Roy; 3 grandchildren, Cara Lank, Brandy Banister and Kody Hughes and a great-grandson, Gage Sheldon.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. (today) Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 also at the funeral home; Pastor Bob Duke to officiate. Interment to follow in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
