One of The very Best Men and families I have known.
A mere sliver from perfect.
In Heaven crafting our vehicle to get us free from earth.

John, you will live on in my memory till the day I join you
In the sky. Your professionalism, friendship, sense of humor and wrinkled laugh will never be replaced. You have been gone a year now but I still think about you all the time. A man like you is timeless, treasured and to be kept close to our hearts. I still remember sitting in your office at 1225 Eye street and slowly learning who you were. I met you at 84 but I got to know you at the greatest time. Nearly 15 years of friendship that I will never forget. Godspeed, John.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Maj Gen John R Alison, "The All American Airman" (Air Force Mag, Mar 2000). I am just now reading a letter he wrote to our friend, Robert L. Scott, Jr. on Scotty's 93rd birthday. John says "We had some great adventures in a great cause with some great comrades we won't forget." We won't forget you Gen. Alison - thank you for your many years of service to our country. Marilynn Pantera

To the family of Major General John Alison:
On behalf of all the members of the Air Commando Association, but especially those in the Major General John Alison Chapter of Washington DC, we express our heartfelt condolences and once again, thank you for the honor of naming our chapter after this true American hero. General Alison’s service, sacrifice, leadership, and heroism are legendary. The legacy he has provided to all the current, former, and future members of the US Air Force Special Operations community is one in which we will endeavor to meet.
May I say to personally meet General Alison and speak with him about his WWII exploits will remain a cherished memory for me. The foundation of our Air Force Special Operations community was created by General Alison and his co-founder Colonel Philip Cochran and we salute them as they have joined formation again.
With sincere respect and admiration,
Colonel Edward “Otto” Pernotto, US Air Force Reserve
