I am a Vietnam vet. His song Hello Vietnam means a great deal to me because I lost a girl I still love which I have not seen or heard from since 1968 because she was against the Vietnam war. I listen to that song and think of her. Thank you Johnny, rest in peace.

I just learned of the loss of this beloved country music icon today. Kitty died a week ago, and I fondly recall in 2004 seeing them tour with Bill Anderson among other greats. What struck me the most was how after being helped to the stage, along with a walker, when Johnny took his guitar and stood to the mic with his magnificent rhinestone suit and hat, he came to life and put a show on that I will never forget. He was a true star, and although I am only 40 years old, I appreciated that whole experience more than I can say. The whole group signed autographs and posed for pictures after the show and I was first in line. Johnny and the rest were as friendly as they were legendary. Lord take good care of Johnny and Kitty as they were two of the best when we had the pleasure of having them with us.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Johnnie. He was an icon. I too lost my husband in March 2011
country singer, songwriter Harley Allen. He had many hit songs and wrote them on a guitar that was once owned by Kitty and Johnny. it was a great 1952 D28. Johnny sold it to Curtis McPeak. Someone from Dayton Ohio bought the guitar from Curtis and Harley always loved it (He is Red Allen's Son).
Finally we got the guy to sell it to us. He loved that guitar and wrote most of his hits on it. After moving to Nashville, Curtis Verified that the guitar indeed was sold to him by Johnny. Harley fondly named the guitar "Kitty"

My condolences to you and your family. They say God heals what the mind cannot. God Bless Debbie Nims-Allen Brentwood Tn
