My deepest condolences. I remember Mr. Kulig fondly. I graduated from Richland in 1963 and have great memories of the school and Mr. Kulig. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,

I remember his first year was when I was in 2nd grade and his "office" was the crawl space in the supply room with the flat basketballs. He was the one that told us that President Kennedy had been shot and cried when they announced his death. I used to babysit his sons. I graduated RGS in 1965 in a class of 8. We were thrilled when he agreed to be the Guest of Honor along with his wife Joan at a multi class reunion in the 1990's at RGS. I'm so glad that we video taped that evening. He was responsible for a generation of kids growing up to be hard working, responsible citizens. A wonderful man by all standards and He will be missed. If I wasn't living in Florida I would be there to say a final thank you to "the Principal"

My condolences to the Kulig family on the loss of this great man. Mr Kulig was a dedicated, honorable and principled man that cared about his students. I always remember playing park district basketball on Saturday afternoons at Richland in 70's with him as a coach (his favorite play was the give-and-go). The photo on this website is perfect and is exactly the image that I recall from my days at Richland. Mr. Kulig always had a swagger but it never came with an attitude--a great mix of discipline and paternalism. God rest your sole, sir. And thank you for shaping the lives of so many individuals, including the man writing this memory. You will not be forgotten.

Just looking at his photo brings back a rush of fond memories. Thank you to his family for sharing him with the children at Richland School. He certainly knew how to keep us all in line and helped to shape the lives of many through the years. He was one of a kind! I count it a blessing to have had such a nice visit with he and Joan at our reunion a few years ago and will treasure that memory.
