To the Helton Family,

I want to express my deepest and sincerest gratitude for the sacrifice your son gave. I was assigned to the unit he belonged to for most of his Deployment to Baghdad. To say that he was a great officer, mentor, and leader doesn't seem to be enough. During his tour he led by example every time and was always willing to assist me with accomplishing tasks that needed an officer's approach. Unlike most of his peers and leaders, he was willing to take the time to help me work out what would seem like an almost impossible task. I have been in the Air Force for 12+ years and have never worked with an officer or individual for that matter that was so willing to do the little extra to help others out. It was for these reasons that when it came time for my re-enlistment, he was the ONLY officer I thought of. It was an honor and a priviledge to have shared that milestone with him and to have known and served with him. Please accept my condolences. The world has lost a great friend, brother, son, and soldier. Lt Helton...you will be missed.

With Love and Respect,
Benjamin Dees
