Doris Lorene Lawrenson, 85, of Sterling, passed away Oct. 10, 2013, in Brush. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Chaney-Reager. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Doris was born Oct. 19, 1927, in Sidney, Neb., to Edward and Ruth Elizabeth (Rogers) Brachtenbach. She grew up on the family farm in Peetz and attended school there until the high school burned down during her junior year in 1944. She then moved to Sterling and lived with a host family so she could finish her schooling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1945. While living in Sterling she worked for Woolworth's for a few years until she accepted a job at Ray Smith Motors in 1950 and worked there as a bookkeeper until 1966.
In 1961, Doris met Edward Lawrenson. They were married June 18, 1966, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They lived in Galesburg, Ill., for three years and on Aug. 25, 1969, they were blessed with their first child, a son named Brian. They were blessed again with their second child on April 1, 1972, a daughter named Renee.
Family and faith were everything to Doris up to her last days with her family at her side. Her kind soul and bright smile will be forever missed.
Doris is survived by her son, Brian Lawrenson of Denver, and fiance Shawn Unrein and daughter Trinity; daughter, Renee Losh and husband Chris of Strasburg; grandchildren, Logan and Rylan Losh of Strasburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ruth Brachtenbach; husband, Edward Lawrenson in 2008; twin sister, Delores Brachtenbach; sister, Vonda Giesey; brother, Donnie Brachtenbach.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
