I was sorry to learn Dawn died: she was a fine Comptroller in the 1990's after she was State Senator from a 43rd Ward area near Lincoln Park in Chicago where I inherited a house. Best wishes.

Dawn was always on my side. I shall miss her.

Dawn Clark Netsch was an inspiration to women and a model for all public officials.
March 25, 2013
Job well done lady. Rest in Peace.
March 24, 2013
I will always remember Dawn as The Comptroller of Illinois who knew what was going on and how to fix it. She was a wonderful boss and knew everyone by name. She attended many events for the employees. She was witty and happy go lucky. I shall always remember her.
March 19, 2013
Dawn Netsch served us well in the public sphere for as long as I can remember. She never shied from taking a stand, was sound of judgment and a moral beacon, yet tolerant of differences. Her joie de vivre touched us all.
March 19, 2013
Dawn was a partner working with the community leadership for the good of the community. I am honored to have known her.
March 19, 2013
Dawn was what should be honest and truthful. She new how to work with the community for the community. I am honored to have known her.
March 19, 2013
A stand-up woman of integrity and a wry sense of humor. She will be missed
March 18, 2013
Dawn Clark Netsch was a statesman, a public servant, who transcended politics. She was a superhero in the field of politicians and one of the greats in Illinois political history, yet ever humble. She was a 21st century Mother Jones who always stood up to "the bosses" to speak for those without a voice to fight for social change.
March 18, 2013
I will describe Dawn with the same words with which I introduced her several times: Never have the people of Illinois been served as well as when Dawn Clark Netsch has been in office
March 16, 2013
Mrs. Dawn Clark Netsch was smart and delightful and not soon to be forgotten. I have always thought of her and her husband when I drove past her home to the Midwest Buddhist Temple and I know my thoughts will wander to this great dame for as long as I attend Temple.
March 10, 2013
Helped me understand the tax issues related to the Illinois Constitution of 1970. A great teacher!
March 10, 2013
Senator Netsch,"Was not just another pretty face",but a great ole gal. I gained great amount of respect for her while working as a staff member of President Phil Rock's senate office. Everyone could take a lesson from Senate President Rock and Senator Netsch on how to carry oneselves with class and integrity!! As one bright westside politiician use to say,"Don't ever kick the janitor in the butt, because that janitor could be your boss some day!! That is Senator Netsch's legacy, she always treated everyone the same, no matter their title!!! May your rest in peace, grand lady you surely earned it!!
March 10, 2013
My deepest sympathy to her family. She was deeply intelligent, kind and gracious. Politicians should use her as an example of integrity, and should model themselves after her. I was fortunate enough to share many conversations with her when she came to the grocery store where I worked. Rest in Peace Dawn and thank you for a life well lived and shared.

To the Family of Dawn Clark Netsch,
My Condolences to you all on the passing of such a wonderful woman. I had the priviledge of interviewing Ms. Netsch for our local cable news station, in her home, in 1998. What a wonderful, charming, intelligent, and just all-around nice woman! She was so gracious with her time with me and I was just some local cable tv interviewer! She was so kind and polite! She even offered me drinks and to stay afterwards for dinner! Oh, how I wanted to stay to see what other interesting insites she had to the world of Illinois Politics! I will never forget her.
May you all be comforted by your memories. She will be missed!
Sincerely,
Nancy Ciccone-Center

I will miss our opportunity to share political converations as I would drive her home after driving her in the convertable in the Gay Pride Parade. What an excellent example of a woman for all people and for human rights and dignity. We will miss that element of basic what is right, and fair in the world.

She was a very bright light both at Northwestern Law School (where I worked for her '74-'79) and in the Ill. Senate. In addition to all of her other accomplishments, she declared to us one day that "she was the first to wear colorful (long) stockings on the Senate floor" [I think we called them leotards back then.] R.I.P. She was very nice to all of us.
March 06, 2013
Dawn Clark Netsch was an extraordinary woman who proved she could practice law and participate in politics with the best and the brightest. Netsch's honesty and practical approach to government and fiscal responsibility are measures of her integrity Politicians today should take heed of this iconic woman's legacy. May she rest in peace.

My sympathy to family,

It was an honor to serve with Dawn in state government back in the early 1990's. I am a former state representative from that era. She was a rare person in Illinois politics that was both honest and an advocate for good government.

May she rest in peace.

Speaking of a "Woman of Substance" and "A Touch of Class." I am so honored that my life path crossed hers. Of my many memories of her, one of my favorites has to be the way she graciously bowed when greeting both the governor and the janitors. Rest in peace, Dawn. I will forever cherish having known you.
March 06, 2013
She taught us at Northwestern Law '68. She was always a lady, always a professional and always in good humor. Hate to lose men and women of her caliber and level of integrity. Dan Kuhn

My husband and I first met Dawn and Walter in 1980 when he was looking for a Boston Terrier pup to keep him company after his retirement. That was the start of a long and rewarding friendship sharing the love of the breed and good food and company. I was fortunate to talk to Dawn last week and will miss her, be in peace Dawn
March 06, 2013
I was a student in the first class Mrs. Netsch taught at Northwestern law School in 1964-65. She was a wonderful teacher and a special person. Would that all of those who followed her into the political arena held to her standards of honesty, sincerity and straightforward statement of her positions and views. She was just what a politician should be. She will be missed.

You will be greatly missed in the GLBT community. We loved you deeply. Heaven has gained a loving sweet angel today. I used to bow to you as you came by our spot in the Pride Parade every year (and you always seemed to look for me). I bow one last time, sweet warrior. Your legacy will continue. XXOOXXOO

My condolences to Senator Netsch's family. She was a wonderful voice for what "can be" in politics. She has been my hero for decades. God Bless.
March 05, 2013
Sen. Netsch was a dear friend and inspiration to so many. Not too many of us left who worked for and shared her politics of intregrity going back to her first Senate Campaign, ran along with Jim Houlihan's out of our office.
It is a great loss.

As a former student of Prof. Netsch's and an Illinois citizen, I know that she will live on in each student she taught, every person for whose rights she fought, and in the memory of a grateful state, which she served so selflessly.
