Bishop John Darcy was a wonderful man he was always so kind to my family and to me. My late husband was born in Quincy, Mass. his Mother's maiden name was Mary Moran and of course was the daughter of Irish immigrants. Bishop Darcy resembled my husband's family very much, so my children and I felt a kinmanship with him and that somehow they were connected. We shall miss him very much, may God rest his soul!

I express my condolences to the entire family. Bishop D'Arcy was a wonderful person who did so much for so many people.

Back in 1957, as a young, newly-ordained priest of the Boston Archdiocese, then-Father D'Arcy served for a time as assistant priest at St Elizabeth of Hungary Chapel & Holy Trinity Schools in Roxbury, MA. During those first couple years, it was my honor and privilege to be acolyte at his Masses.

With the souls of the righteous, give rest, O Lord, to the soul of Your servant, the Bishop John, in a place of light, a place of green pastures, a place of repose, where there is neither sorrow nor sighing, but only life everlasting. Forgive him all his sins of word or deed, for You are all merciful and love mankind, and unto to You are due all glory, honor, and worship, together with your Father and Your all-Holy, Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.

May his memory be eternal!
