The passing of Coach Walker is a poignant reminder that our individual successes, whatever they may be, are build on the strong back and shoulders of those that preceded us.

Doc, may you Rest in Peace with the knowledge that you blazed a trail, stood strong as an advocate for change and through your intellect, courage, style and actions created a window of opportunity for me!!

I am both honored and proud to stand on your shoulders.

As a former Vice President of Championships at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Walker family at this difficult time. Dr. Walker was an NAIA icon, serving as a longtime member of the Executive Committee, a term as NAIA President and an inductee in its Hall of Fame. He was Mr. Track and Field within the NAIA and all of the coaches and institutions were proud of him when he rose to his positions with US Track and Field and later as Chairman of the United States Olympic Committee. A man of enormous character and unparalled principle, he was simply one of the most important figures in Olympic sports in the 20th century. God rest his soul.

My sincere condolences to the Walker family. God does not forget our loved ones or us as we have to cope with this loss. We are encouraged to throw all our anxieties upon him because he cares for you".

Deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one and NCCU's loss of a beloved Coach. Dr. Walker put NCCU in the Olympic spotlight and that legacy will never fade. May God continue to bless his family.

Dr Walker will always be part of my life story. I had the best time working with him during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics games. I knew he was an important person with the U.S. Olympic Committee, but he never put himself first. He was always willing to answer questions and give help if you needed it. I am blessed to have walked in the footsteps of great people like the coach. Thank you Dr. Walker and may God Bless You to continue to do great work.
