Janet M. DeGroot

RACINE - 79 passed away Tuesday afternoon September 30, 2014 in A+ Just Like Family Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. She was born October 17, 1934 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Rodney and Blanche (nee: Hansen) Kiem. Janet married Herbert F. DeGroot on October 17, 1953 in Racine. He passed away March 12, 1991. A homemaker, Janet was also a long time employee of the old Racine Die Castings. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her children; Randy (Becky) DeGroot, Earl (Holli) DeGroot, Cherie DeGroot, Todd (Carrie) DeGroot, and Rodnette Ellison, 13 grandchildren; Chad (Bess), Heather (Charlie), Natalie, Sarah, Kaitain, Nathan (Mizuho), Sara, Sam, Shani, Shane, Meagan, Brandi, and Aaron, 15 great grand- children, and 2 sisters; Rodnette Sorenson, and Betty Kay Schneider. Janet is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Rick William, and 2 sisters Faye Carriker and Marilyn Austin. The family will receive guests on Saturday October 4, 2014 from 10a.m. until 12 noon in Strouf Funeral Home. Private burial will be Monday in West Lawn Memorial Park.
