Remembering an Elfin Cove friend. See you on the other side. Sympathies and blessings to the family.
January 13, 2013
Our parents were friends even before you were born. My dad probably sold his fish to that scow that your parents concieved you on. Then they brought you and your parents from Elfin Cove, Alaska to Pelican on my dads boat in 1949. I remember you when I was growing up in Pelican. I also remember your mother waving at me from her window when I went to the Post office and store. Your dad ran the Pelican Oil Dock in Pelican. Sometimes they came over to our house for different celebrations. I can still see your dad beautiful wavy white hair. I used to subscribe to your great magazine and I enjoyed it immensely. Give my parents a big hug for me up there David. I will miss you. With love and heartfelt memories, Sharon Klippert Thomas

My sympathies are with you, Fremmings. I was proud to work with Dave and enjoyed every minute we were together! There could have been no better representative of Alaska than he was for thousands of tourists. He made the world a better place.

I am so sad to hear of David passing into the next realm of life. He will always be remembered for his magazine and great personality. Sharon, my prayers are for you and the family.

Dave's passing is a loss for all of us who value wit, intellect and a curiosity that attracted a wide range of interests and skills. He's a Southeast Alaska icon. I'll miss him and even his email humor posts.
