I remember my parents Roland and Jewell Burrows talking about Elton around our dinner table...I heard many kind words about how he helped several down and out families during tough winters...dropped off fish, deer, and grub....Dad said few folks knew of his generosity. Just the way he liked it. Rest good Elton.....many families have your kind soul in their hearts...... only to do the same with others.

My condolences to the Engstrom family, I had met Elton thru my work at the City Café where Elton was a frequent patron, he was always friendly and always had time to talk to anyone and everyone, he would often trade banter with Sam and Gim and so many of the fishermen who often dined in our restaurant he had a vast knowledge of fish and shared it, he always had a kind word and was a friend to all, he will be greatly missed, sincerely Sam Johnson.

An unusual man with many interests and talents. Juneau and Alaska are better places today because Elton was willing to share his abilities and interests whenever asked. Always modest and unassuming I believe he surprised some folks with his quick analysis and grasp of issues at hand.
No question he will be well remembered and missed. Another true, productive Alaskan.

Our thoughts are with the Engstrom family and their great loss. Elton, Jr. was a good man. He was always friendly even with people he did no know well. I met him on the basketball floor in Juneau in a scrimage between Jayhi and the Sitka Columbia Lumber team. Thus began a friendship that grew with each passing year. We will miss hium.

Our condolences to Eltons family, he was such an easy going guy and always had a smile for people, he used to be our boss in Yakutat in the 70's and he was our land lord in Juneau in the 90's. We had much respect for him. We'll see you in heaven Elton. Augusta & Jerry Milton
