Twenty-five years ago I walked through the doorway of a tiny refurbished house on Dixon St. Within minutes I knew this was going to be the job of my life. So who exactly do I work for? With the smile I hold dear, Eric says, ‘Now that there's three of us, just think of it like this, I'm the President, Jim is the Vice President and you get to be the employee'! Then Eric reached out to all corners of AK and beyond sharing his expertise in every field of research imaginable. Since the day I had to leave, I missed you. Today I miss you more.

I first met Eric at UAF in the sixties. Enjoyed him then and again in 2003 when we had a quick visit in Juneau and played catchup on where our lives had taken us. Our visits, even separated by decades, are a valued memory.

I met Eric and Jo when we (Clair and Toni Markey) moved to Juneau in 1964 and lived on Lena Loop about two cabins away from them. He was a delight, always cheerful and a most kind hearted person. I left in 1970, but Clair remained in Alaska. Clair, a basketball player and coach, also recently passed on June 20th. It is so sad to suffer these losses. Condolences, prayers and love to all from, Toni DePaiva

To Eric and his family: Few men like Eric have graced our path; he had an enormous gift of treating every individual he met like they were the most important person he would meet that day. From first grade, to high school basketball, to the St. Paul Singers, and life in general, he added his extraordinary talent, love and caring. We're not ready to let you go, dear friend, but the only saving grace is knowing you are with our creator and your beloved son, Mark. God Bless you and we know we'll see you again! Marlene Ciraulo

I am so sorry for your loss. Eric was huge in the AA community and he inspired many including myself. He was an example of truly living the the twelve step way of life. I will miss him in and out of our rooms. God Bless,

My condolences Chris and Lisa. It is very rare in life that one meets people so genuine, caring, and compassionate towards others. It was a pleasure to work with your dad. He was always very kind and I appreciated the wisdom and though he put into the conversations we had. It was a true pleasure to work for him. My heart goes out to you two both, and to your girls as well.
