Oh Buddy....how Willy has missed you. So many memories and your music will last for a long time. Now you and Willy are up in heaven together enjoying your music and, debating religion and politics. Now The Master will be smiling and setting you straight. How I miss you two.

And so many others greatly loved and appreciated you, Buddy, and the music, the humor, the spirituality, and the sweetness you gave to us, likely much more than you ever knew. I can only hope that you know everything, now. Deepest sympathies to Jeannette, and to all of the family.

Buddy was one of Alaska's finest poets, one of the dangerous ones who told the truth, as our friend Ken Melville would say.

It was wonderful that he was willing to let us know that he was sick and needed help, so that we could turn out in force and let him know that we cared at November's Blues for Buddy fundraiser, and that his out of town friends could hold similar events in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Whitehorse. He was able to say goodbye to friends, and showed us all how to exit with dignity.

His music will live on and inspire others, and I hope that it will be discovered and recorded by younger musicians, so he will continue to touch the lives of others as he did when he was with us.

I'm sure that Buddy and Uncle Bob are having a great jam session in Heaven.

Buddy was one of the first people I met when I moved to Juneau in 1985 and I started going to Calvary Fellowship. He was so outgoing and introduced me to many friends in the music community. I spent many happy hours playing music with Buddy at home, in concert and on a couple of his recordings. He was always an interesting person to spend time with, and we used to get into some good political arguments, which were always fun. I left Juneau years ago, and I can't imagine the place without him. I could go on and on, but I know I will see Buddy again. I can imagine that he will be writing a lot of new songs in heaven. Joyous, happy songs now.

As a kid growing up in Juneau, I will always remember that smile and bounce in Buddy's step. I later got to know Buddy through the minister of Mick Ewing at Calvary. Buddy and others blessed with more musical gifts than me always struck an angelic tone in their musical ministry. Buddy, we'll see you soon on the other side. You will always be a fond memory as my journey continues down here in the lower 48. Peace and love, my friend. You made the world a bette place because you lived.
