August 15 2018.....Oscar and I were buddies in the Philippines growing up in our teens. At night we'd go out serenading all the girls in town as I was his accompanist with my guitar and we have a great time making music together. During the 50's we joined a local dance band called The Frank Ancheta and the Rhapsody Boys in Rosales Pangasinan. He was our crooner while I played the trumpet. We toured Luzon playing all the town fiestas in our tuxedo outfit for a year. Eventually, he transferred to a more prestigious band called the "Toots Guerzzo Orchestra from Dagupan City, I sure missed him then so I joined the US Navy on Feb. 1959. In 1961. I joined the USNavy Band, attended the Navy School of Music in Washington DC,. When I graduated, the Navy sent me to Argentia Newfoundland as a Navy musician where I met my wife Dolly, a Canadian. Then 1965 my small family were transferred to San Francisco but I have not seen him there. In 2016, my wife and I went on a cruise to Juneau, Alaska. There I called Oscar to meet us at the pier. We spent the rest of the day together catching up.Then it was time we said good bye as we went back to the ship. That was the last time we saw each other. Oscar and I were born the same year 1937. It was great growing up with a great guy as he. My wife and I are so sorry to learn that he had passed last year. Good by my friend, may you rest in peace.
