Paw Paw
Nelson passed away Friday afternoon, June 6, 2014. He was born April 25, 1926 in Paw Paw the son of the late Ward and Edna (Beals) Hood. Nelson was a life-long dairy farmer on the family farm and was a member of the Kalamazoo Milk Producers Board, Member of the Michigan Milk Producers and Farm Bureau. During the winter he enjoyed going to Florida but was always happy to get home to work on the farm. He was also a member of the Paw Paw Township Zoning Board, and Paw Paw-Lawton Masonic Lodge # 25 F&AM. On June 7, 1980 in Paw Paw, Nelson was united in marriage to Lucille Ann Marshall-Seedorff who survives. Also surviving are 4 children: Karen (Greg) Hover of Mason, MI, Keith (Sue) Hood of Fort Wayne, IN, Timothy (Deborah) Hood of Paw Paw, and Tonda (Craig) Warner of Paw Paw; step-children, Janice Wilson of Paw Paw, Judy (Roger) Meyers of Neadolis, OH and Larry (Cindy) Seedorff of Alamo; nine grandchildren: Tammy, Charlie, Britney, Jennifer, Justin, Trevor and Savannah, Mark and Cindy. five step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hood and a step-daughter, Sally Seedorff. Family will receive friends Monday, June 9, 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a Masonic Service will be held following visitation at 8 PM Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, 11 AM with Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Interment will follow in Cuddeback Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Van Buren Co. Farm Bureau Ag. Some of my fondest memories are based around spending time with Tonda playing in the barn and silos. Nelson was always so sweet to us kids. He was a wonderful father, a community leader, and a dear friend to my folks. He will be missed.
