During my years at PCHS I always looked forward to seeing Mr. C in the hall and I'd be prepared for what he would say! One day I told him to quit acting like a meanie because we all knew he was just a big teddy bear. He just laughed and laughed! Even after I graduated I'd run into him once in awhile and he always started "harrassing" me just like the old days! I'd just hug him and tell him hes a gentle bear! I loved his laugh. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Until we meet again~~~~

I am so sorry I missed the funeral for Mr. Corstange. I can't even begin to explain what he meant to me and my career, he was not a good man, he was a great man. He was a mentor and a friend and he will be missed, I look forward to seeing him again someday. God bless the family, he made am impact and that will never be forgotten.
I like to say that Mr. Corstange was one of my favorite teachers and he encouraged me to continue with the dream in drafting; if it wasn't for his encouragment I don't think I would have accomplished as much as I have in my career. I wish there were more educators like Mr. Corstange.
A great Mayor & a good friend
We have so many fun and wonderful memories of Engel & Annetta as we all enjoyed being Portage Central Mustangs....what a unique group we were, and Engel made our gatherings such fun for all of us. Fond memories and we are glad we have them.... He will be missed by so many people.
Jim, Jill and family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers. In sympathy and friendship.
I was fortunate to have Engel as a teacher all 3 years in high school, he was passionate in his work and his smile and laugh made you feel good . He loved the city of Portage and served her well with pride. We shared a mutual love of country maid bakery wedgies , and my senior year we shared many together in my co-op classroom. A warm, kind human being and friend.
Engel was a dear friend and co-worker, man of honor and principles! Loved the twinkle in his eye and amused chuckle. We are sad to hear of his passing, but delighted to know that he is celebrating with the Lord in Heaven! May God bless his terrific family and help them find comfort in special memories.

Mr. Corstange was one of the best teachers I ever had. Also when I worked for the City of Portage he was a great Mayor. My family will miss him, our Prays and best wishes go out to his family.
Engle was a man who actively worked for the betterment of the community. I met and worked with him for many years while at the city of Portage. Rest in peace.
Engel was a political friend of mine. Through that venue I got to know and enjoy his upbeat personality. He was a wonderful community leader and a helper to many.

Mr. Corstange was my building teacher in 1969 and a friend after that...RIP
Mr Corstange was the most inspirational and influential teacher I had. He taught by his work ethic, positive attitude and humorous outlook on life. Engel was one of a kind a will be missed.
Engel served the citizens of Portage for many years. We are forever grateful for your service and leadership.
I've known Engel since I was a student at PCHS, but mainly worked with him as I worked in the HS Office. After graduating & getting into the community workforce, I'd run into he, or he & Annetta often, when we'd refresh memories, laugh, and share news about out prospective families. Annetta & family, I know how he will be missed. In the time that I worked with him while he was involved with the City of Portage, I also had the privilege of working with him, always with a smile & hug. I never heard a harsh word. He worked for the benefits of Portage & we were, & are, lucky to have had him in our lives. You will be missed by many, My Friend.
I have had the privilege of becoming very close to both Engel & Annetta Corstange through my employment at Park Village Pines. I have enjoyed visiting with them each day that I worked there. We shared many stories and many laughs together, including the story on how Engel first met Annetta. The love for his wife, his family, and the Lord was truly evident in his daily living. Engel was loved by many and will be sincerely missed. My thoughts & prayers go out to Annetta and the extended Corstange family during this time.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:15
Mr. Corstange was my favorite teacher. I was his student aide for a year as well. I had so much fun with him and I absolutely loved him (but then again, who didn't). He will be greatly missed by all. Rest in Peace.
He made a difference in my son's life, as his teacher, he taught him not only the subject but also values. A very loving and caring man who will be much missed.
Easter offers hope to those who grieve.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the loss of Engel. He was a dear and trusted friend of my parents throughout our lives and I know they will be happy to see eachother once again.
