I had the opportunity to have Mr. Conklin as a Health and PE teacher at Parchment High School. I also was his senior assistant. Mr. Conklin had a genuine concern for the well being of his fellow man. He never made a mountain out of a molehill and understood that kids behavior was affected by the changes going on inside their bodies. (Puberty). He projected a knight's armor shell, But once past that armor was a caring, truly concerned mentor. Mr. Conklin had a dry sense of humor and always had the respect of many students for the war wounds he sustained in Italy defending the freedom of our nation. I feel like a bigger person for having known him and will forever be grateful for the positive influence he brought to my teenage years. Rest in the arms of god Bernie, You've earned it.
