I worked @ DHS with John, and have been off work for over a year due to a car accident. I recently heard of the loss of John. He was such a great guy. He always smiled and had a great sense of humor. He had a ig heart. I will miss him. So sorry for the loss your family has had to face. God Bless

The photo of John says it all; compassionate, warm, open, a truly genuine human being. My heart goes out to his family for their great loss.

We work together for years dealing with difficult circumstances. More often than not, John took the hard edge off of my views as he saw potential where I did not. He was a very unique and caring man. Besides all that, he loved the blues, bikes, and family! Nothing better than that. Rest In Peace John

We grew up together, you protected me from the neighborhood twins and even would fight for me, you played little league baseball and join Cub Scouts. You taught me alot of things, even demonstrated how to box, with one glove. Your teasing was keen and right to the point, even when you called your brother "Straighty Lady". Ofcourse he called you "CurlyGirly".
We planned and achieved alot of things together, the road trips, we traveled the famous Route 66, discovered west of the Miss. River you could get differnt beer, especially Coors.
And all the music played was your Eagles.

And Your Lions. love and hate them, they were always your Lions.
We witnessed the Tigers winning a 68 Championship and several Red Wing games.
In sports you help me become a decent Jr H. player and then in the J.V years i blocked you out of a scrimmage play, well the next play you flatten me. You were a good wrestler, i was your practice wrestler on the weekends.
College, the White Rabbit, were we would hang out. remember when the drinking law changed in 1972, Uncle bought us our first legal beer.
Your journey in the next existance is a relief and well earned one. I will say even though the pain you went through you never complained and you never took the road of self pity. All of our discussions of life will be remembered. Vayas con Dios bro,,Vic

Ybarra Family,
I worked for John at DHS and found him to be a unique and wonderful person. Him and I had many conversations about military, farming and how much he reminded me of my dad! John was truly an angel sent from God and I am thankful that I was able to know him. God Bless you during this difficult time.

John helped me move one of my clients a few years ago.The client was a hoarder and not the most grateful person. John graciously and without complaint or condemnation used his own truck, his own gas, and his own time to help someone he did not even know. I still marvel at his kindness. You couldn't MAKE him say a bad word about anyone. The world is a poorer place without him, but heaven is singing, I am sure.
