We'll miss Joe at the Adult Chamber Music Camp at Interlochen. I always looked forward to playing Haydn string quartets with him. Mozelle Sawyer Bell

I'm so sorry to hear of this. Dr. Work taught me the Beethoven violin concerto in 1971 when I was a grad student at Western. Wonderful memories.
Wonderful man - I miss him, R. Caldwell

We are sorry to hear of Joe's death. Not only did we share as neighbors in Kirkshire back in the 60's; but also remember when Joe and his string quartet played for us at the rented big home on Angling Road. We now live in NC. Don is Joe's age.
All the best to you and your family,
Don & Sandy Burns

Sheila and Family,

Judy and I are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. We send our most sincere condolences. I have fond memories of my rehearsals with Joe and our evenings after rehearsals of the KSO sharing ice cream at the Howard Johnson's restaurant.
Joe was a wonderful colleague with whom I shared many an enjoyable conversation about music, life, and families. He certainly will be missed. Judy and I hope that the family has many fond memories that help to mitigate your sorrow.

With best wishes,

Bob and Judy Whaley

Joe was always kind to me, Sheila, and most gracious about teaching summer after summer at SEMINAR. He always smiled when we talked about him being a TUBA player in the first Eastman Wind Ensemble. Blessings and Peace to you.
