Dr. Tagett is a fellow fraternity brother and Depauw graduate. As I get older, it seems that I find myself turning to the obituary section of the alumni magazine first. This time I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's untimely and sudden passing. A nobel and educated man, he was giving of his professional time to his patients and colleagues and his personal time to his family and friends. I cannot think of any greater contribution or anything more the world could ask of such a fine man. I know that Mark's passing has left a huge void in the broken hearts of his family and friends. Although words can do little to assuage the grief Mark's family is feeling, to all of them, I extend my most sincere and heartfelt condolences for this tremendous loss and like Dr. Zakula, the loss of a friend and FIJI brother.
JPC DePauw 1979.

I am hurt to hear of my friend Mark's death. I only had 2 or 3 really good friends in college and Mark was one. I went my way and left college behind me, and had not spoken to Mark in over 30 years. That does not matter in the least; a once in a lifetime friend remains just that, for a lifetime. God bless his family, his siblings and father Dr. John, whom I also remember very well. Dr. Mark Zakula MD, San Antonio, Texas.

I am just now hearing of the unfortunate news. I had just met Dr. Tagett in January of last year when he preformed a cholecystectomy for me. He was by far the kindest doctor I have ever met. I felt like he really took the time to get to know me and listened instead of just rushing through everything like most others.

I am truly sorry for your family's loss and will be praying for you. I hope that you can find comfort in knowing how many peoples lives he touched and how special it was to each and every one of us.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Tagett. He performed a few surgeries for me and always seemed caring and generous. My prayers go out to his family.

Shocked and so very sorry to hear about your loss. I worked with Mark at Bronson as a nurse for many years. He was very intelligent and highly respected as a person and physician. He had a canny sense of humor. I'll never forget the day I went parasailing and got my butt chewed out by him for doing so. His loss will be felt by many. May God be with you and your family. Remember the good times and he will be there with you always. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
