I met the Coolman family when we all lived in Gary, Indiana. Ruth was a great mother and taught her 4 boys to respect women and exhibit their best manners. I dated Jim for a while and Kurt rode with me in our Homecoming convertible. Glad to see that all her children turned out so well. She lived a good life and will surely be missed.

Ruth was my grandmother. As a child, we visited her and grandpa at Thanksgiving. All cousins would sit at a "kids table". When she moved to California, we became regular pen pals. She called me her secretary, and I fondly addressed her as my Gma Coolman. She was, undoubtedly, passionate about her teaching career. "Third grade is the best kept secret", she told me during my college years. I was able to visit my grandparents twice before my Gpa passed. They truly had found a diamond in the rough, on top of Otay Ranch. My grandparents attended my wedding, and also met my firstborn son; four generations in one room was amazing! All 3 of my children met and learned life lessons from Gma Ruth. That is what teachers do; share and care right through the veins of families. We loved her, and missed her. Peace be with Gma Coolman now.
