I love and miss you everyday. Not a minute goes by that i do not think if you.
July 31, 2014
It is July 31 and I am just now able to write to you, Stephen, what I feel. I know you won't be reading this, but this message is for you from my heart. We lived through a lot of heartache, didn't we? But I hope you know that every moment of your life you, as are your brothers and sisters, the reason I live and breath. One night when you were in Viet Nam I couldn't sleep. As I so often did during that time I went outside. The night was quiet and the stars were out and I prayed for you. And I prayed for us. I asked God, as I often did, to please keep you safe because I could not. My prayers were answered. You came home and did all the things that young people do. You got a good job. I remember when you got the telegram from GM in answer to your application for work. And I remember how you came into my room when you came home from a date. You got married. From this marriage you have two children. And from your daughter you have two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. You always worked and were never shy about doing for others. So now God has taken you home where there is no pain, no sorrow only never ending sunshine and love. I know this is not the normal kind of message, but what does a Mother write in a final message to her son? It has been over four months and I still listen for the call "Mom, I just put the steaks on the grill. Come on over." So for now 'Good night, my son. Sleep well-no bad dreams, no headaches. Just peace and sunshine'. Love always from Mother.
