I was fortunate to be a part of the Bell family for nearly 20 years, when Robert Bell, Carl's son, married my mother, Linda. Carl and his wife Gwen were wonderful people, generous and caring. I loved being on their farm as a child and I wish I had gotten to know them better. My sympathy goes out to the family. With love, Veronica
Carl was a committed citizen and a great friend.
Carl, you were a great roll model and a great friend. I really enjoyed our hours of conversations and the time I spent with you and your family...
I was saddened to hear about Carl'spassing. I lived with Carl, Gwen and Boys in 1962 when I went to Wichita Bussiness College. I was from Western Kansas and they were so nice to me. Carl would sometimes drop me off at school on his way to work to save me bus fare. Carl was always joking around and laughing. I enjoyed their whole family.
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Carl Jr. The Bell family has had an impact and presence in my fathers life for as long as I can remember, and through my father, ours as well. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family.. May God rest his hand upon you and comfort you in this time of sorrow. God speed Carl!
I'll always remember when I was a little girl and I was at Mammuz' apartment above the Grocery Store on 13th waiting on dad (Merrick Champlin) to get off work from the store and Carl Jr. would stop in and see her. He always had a smile on his face and it made me feel special.
I knew Carl at Pine Valley Christian Church. He was a wonderful and generous man. I know he will be missed by his family and by his communities.
Carl was a very loving grandfather-in-law, and whenever a waiter would ask, "How are you guys doing tonight?" he'd respond with, "We're doing fine. And so are our wives."
I asked Carl at Sarah Decker's wedding if he wasn't one of the Bell's. He bellowed up from the bottom of the stairs "I AM THE BELL!" I will miss The Bell. I'm not sure such character's are made anymore.
Carl was a credit to the human race. He made a positive difference in the lives of many people. It was always a joy to be in his company.
My father Pat Avery and brother Tony Avery worked for many years for the Carl Bell Market at St Francis and 13th street. They have both passed on. I have many good memories of them working there and of all of the Bell family. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends.
Allen, Kim, and Bell family: I'm so sorry to read this, Carl was such a kind, intelligent, good-natured person whom I thoroughly enjoyed working with. My prayers are with you.
My condolences to the Carl Bell family.
I didn't know Mr. Bell personally would like to honor his memory and recognize the major contributions he made to the development of what Wichita has become under his leadership and influence.
