1925 - 2014

Alvin E. Witwer, Jr., 88, Lenexa, Kan., passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Lakeview Village Care Center. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd St. Lenexa. Visitation will precede the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Alvin was born July 22, 1925, in Breda, Iowa, the son of Alvin Sr. and Josephine (Schulte) Witwer. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII. Alvin attended the University of Iowa, and received his law degree from Drake Law School. In the later part of his working career he worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the Kansas Department of Workers Compensation. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Cynthia in 2010. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Susan and Douglas Mergen, two sons and their wives, Paul and Mary Witwer, and Thomas and Barbara Witwer, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
