Lory, Katy, and Kari I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. I knew your dad and husband in highschool. He was a great musician back then and a very sweet and kind person. Out of the blue he contacted me on line back in Sept of 2013. We shared lots of stories about high school together as well as each telling of our lives since high school. He was very proud of you 3 and shared pictures with me of all of you and your dogs who he also dearly loved. Katy and Kari, he called you his best accomplishment We shared a bit too about the kinds of music we liked and he gave me a list of recording artists to check out. The last e-mail I received from him was in late November. I was worried about him, but figured he had other things to do. It was only when I tried to contact him about a SE reunion did I find this article. I have a feeling that he is back playing his trumpet now and surrounding all of you with enormous love. I lost my husband several years ago and know how painful that is. My son and I still miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all including his father and siblings.

Lory and daughters, I was a surgical nurse at NKCH for 20 yrs. and worked closely with Dr Tripses during my career. He was a skilled surgeon and a gentleman. I think Dr Tripses received the highest compliment from the nursing staff and co-workers at NKCH, by being chosen as their physician or surgeon, when themselves or their family needed care. All of us that were fortunate to know and work with him, will miss his skill, knowledge and wonderful sense of humor. Please know that he touched many lives in a good and generous way, and he will be sorely missed. God bless you and your family, may you find comfort in your memories. Sherry Blyth RN

Dear Lory,Kati, and Kari,

Just today (Feb.21st), I learned of the passing of David. I know he was a man of great strength and courage, a great Dr. and Surgeon, a loving husband and father and a great example of dedicated service to others.

Though I'm still here in Florida, please know that my thoughts and prayers extend to you at this difficult time. Please let me know that if there is anything I can do to assist you in any way. My deepest condolences. Sincerely, Russ Burkholder
