Helen and Clyde Lake Beatie lived across the road from Arnold's parents in Corder, Missouri most of their lives. We moved to Kansas City when I was 15 years old. It truly is a small world as much later in life, Arnold worked for Bolling Construction and built my husband and my first home in Gracemore. We had a chance to visit with him off and on about life in the
country and Corder, etc. while he was working on the house. He was just a wonderful, kind, courteous and a fabulous home builder - a good country boy with great upbringing. I will always remember the Alpers family. I read that Wesley is still alive, how wonderful. I go to the cemeteries in Higginsville and Corder every year around or on Memorial Day and try to make it down during the holidays and ALWAYS drive by my home place - Corder will always be my home and is in my heart, and I feel so blessed to have been raised there. The new owners sold some of our land and now other homes have been built on it. I do not think the Alpers still live in the house there, but it will always be the "Alpers" home to me, same as the Blases next door and the Mahnkens down the road. I sincerely send my deepest sympathy to Arnold's family - I know he will be greatly missed. You could not ask for a better person to know than Arnold Alpers.
Love to all
