Carl and Kay were among my parents best friends. While I was completing high school in Independence I had a scholarship to Wm. Jewell College in Liberty, MO. During the summer right after graduation from Wm Chrisman HS, Carl encouraged me to consider Graceland. I told him I had not only enrolled in Wm Jewell but even picked out my room and roommate there and was reluctant to change my plans. He asked if I would consider at least one semester at Graceland and I reluctantly agreed and made a last minute application for admission to Graceland. Once there I became very involved in campus life and not only stayed through the "trial" semester, but continued through the 2 year program then offered at the "Junior College." During my sophomore year I was honored to be president of the student body and continued, after graduation to pursue a medical education and career. The critical decision to go to Graceland at the strong encouragement of Carl made a tremendous alteration in my later years and life. Though my parents passed some years ago, my 3 younger sisters and I have continued our contact with Carl and Kay over the years. His devout dedication, steady focus and great friendship and counsel have, I am sure, changed many lives for the better as it did mine.

I remember as a child living only a few houses up from Mr. and Mrs. Mesle and the joy of coming and visiting them. They always had time for my brother Todd and I. My grandparents lived right next door. We always played in their screened in back porch and ate the pears off the trees in the back yard. We have very fond memories of both Mr. Mesle and his wife. Much love to the family. My prayers are with you all.

I had the privilege of meeting Carl and his wife when my husband was a resident in dementia section at Rosewood in 2006-2008. I found them to be very friendly and helpful during this time. She always had a smile and looked beautiful in her appearance. It made the day so much better after her visits and Carl was a blessing whenever he would come as well. He lived a good long life in service to God and his country. My sympathy to the family because no matter how long we live, there is a void when the Lord calls us home.
