I was very sad to hear of this great loss. Zona was a great mentor. To this day, I think about what she would do in situations and try to apply that in my life. I was glad to have the opportunity to know such a great lady. My sympathies to her family.

Zona was the first person to give me a job in the field I am still working in today, of course the insurance world. She hired me as a young 18 year old kid with a family despite not having an work history with what I would be doing. She drove me to succeed in this business and to take a different look at what a woman can do in this industry. She was a very strong, hard working, caring person and she will truly be missed. I give a salute to her for the many that she inspired in life that maybe she never thought she did. To all her family I send my sympathies, Zona was a great lady.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work for this wonderful lady. She taught me to be a better employee. Gave me opportunities I never thought I would of had. When I needed a helping hand, she was there for me. She is someone that has touched my heart and life and I will never forget her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Zona was a very strong and confident, yet gentle and caring lady. I have so many fond memories of working for Zona that I don't know if I can capture how much she meant to me. Zona, and the LaHood family, adopted me when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I don't know how I would have made it without everyone's love and support. When I think of this time in my life I don't think about how difficult things were for me, I think about how great my second family was during that time.

Zona recognized our strengths and weaknesses in order to help us excel. She was very honest, a quality that I truly admired. She actually took the time to get to know all her girls. After a five-year employee dinner, Zona asked me how I liked the meal. The dinners always included some unique items that I had never had before and I really didn't care for it. The next year we had beef and she told me that she selected that just for me. I was so surprised that she remembered our conversation from the year before.

My most recent conversation with Zona, she told me how her boys were doing, how her grandchildren were doing and how her great-grandson was doing. She was so very proud of all of you. Zona was an incredible lady who will be missed, but will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Zona gave me a job when no one else would. I had a 3 week old baby and had just graduated from high school. She gave people a chance when they needed it the most. You always knew where you stood with her. She would let you know if you needed to improve on something and would just as often let you know when you had done something well. She was an example to a lot of her "girls" and always will be. She could be tough, but had a heart of gold. She will never be forgotten.

Zona was an exceptional lady who taught many their work ethic. I was fortune to work with her for many years and got to know just how much she took care of her "girls". My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I do not know where to begin.. I will miss my grandmother everyday.. She was a strong, beautiful, successful woman that touched the lives of many... She was very proud of her family, and was the first to brag to those around her every chance she got.. She raised three wonderful children who to have created families of their own, and the pride continues within them.. Thanks to all who have said kind words about my grandma. She was a great lady who was loved by many... I love and miss you grandma....

I am so glad I was able to find a boss so early in my life who could show me how the people I worked with could become a second family. She was like a mother who would guide you during difficult times and brought unity to all around her during the Holiday seasons. Unlike many workplaces today, you didn't feel like a number because she always took the time to compliment hard work, provide special lunches, and gave selected tokens for her appreciation. The memories of ten years under her guidance has filled my heart with the tradition of a Great Woman. You will be missed by all who knew you.

So sorry to hear about Zona. She was one great lady. She gave me a chance to succeed when nobody else would. In fact, she insisted on it. We had a lot of good laughs together and I knew that she would always be there for me. We kept it touch even after I retired from LaHood up until I moved to Texas. I know she will be missed by all that knew her and especially her family. You were her life. May she rest in peace.

ZONA WAS MY FRIEND FOR MANY YEARS.
I WILL REMEMBER HER ALSO AS MY GOOD NEIGHBOR. SHE GAVE ME SUPPORT DURING A TIME OF FAMILY GRIEF. I DON'T KNOW IF I EVER THANKED HER ENOUGH OR TOLD HER HOW MUCH I APPRECIATED THAT ACT. I CAN ONLY HOPE SHE KNEW. WE HAD SOME GREAT TIMES TOGETHER WITH OUR FRIEND BOBBIE. I KNOW IN MY HEART THEY ARE CATCHING UP AND HAVING SOME MORE LAUGHS NOW. I WILL THINK OF HER OFTEN. JO ANN TRIANO

I'm not sure I have enough room to express how I feel about Zona. Without her confidence in me, hiring me fresh from a "small town" environment, I'm not sure where my life would be now.
She taught me the value of working hard & being rewarded in return with her friendship, trust, confidence & firm, but loving hand. She is unforgettable to me. Zona was truly like a 2nd mom to many of her "girls". I will miss her heart & soul very much.
Please know this is a very small piece of how I felt about Zona. I want her family to know how she impacted my life, when I needed someone to. Zona was a one of a kind, boss & friend. I will miss you Zona. Thanks for sharing your mom with us.

Great lady. Wonderful mentor. Zona meant many things to me but most of all she gave me the confidence I needed to succeed in a world run by persons who have a "zipper in the front." I will miss the birthday conversations I had with her. I will miss her laugh.

She was proud of her boys and I hope you know how much she bragged on all of you.
