Zona was a very strong and confident, yet gentle and caring lady. I have so many fond memories of working for Zona that I don't know if I can capture how much she meant to me. Zona, and the LaHood family, adopted me when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I don't know how I would have made it without everyone's love and support. When I think of this time in my life I don't think about how difficult things were for me, I think about how great my second family was during that time.
Zona recognized our strengths and weaknesses in order to help us excel. She was very honest, a quality that I truly admired. She actually took the time to get to know all her girls. After a five-year employee dinner, Zona asked me how I liked the meal. The dinners always included some unique items that I had never had before and I really didn't care for it. The next year we had beef and she told me that she selected that just for me. I was so surprised that she remembered our conversation from the year before.
My most recent conversation with Zona, she told me how her boys were doing, how her grandchildren were doing and how her great-grandson was doing. She was so very proud of all of you. Zona was an incredible lady who will be missed, but will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
