Too much of a shock. I loved John as a best friend and a Brother. So many memories. I went into the military the day before he left for the Marine Corp. On a foggy day on April 3rd, 1966, he saw me off. Of some of my fondest memories, John was there with me. So many tears in my eyes to go on.

I first met John while working at the Granfalloon on the Plaza in 1983. We enjoyed so many laughs together over the years - too many to be counted ! I lost my sister on May 9th this year and John was so sweet and concerned about our family. He never focused on his own health issues, just on enjoying his time with friends ! I will miss him and his "big" laugh ! My very deepest sympathies to all of his family; Larry .

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to know you, John. I'll always remember the great conversations Erich and I had with you when we met over lunch at Streetcar during the past few years. One of my favorite stories was the one about the gear shift knob you were going to carve. A funny and great memory. You will be missed. Rest in peace, friend. —Bryan

At the young age of 21, John (John-John) took me under his wing as a a fledgling bartender at Butch Cassidy's on Main St. I will always be grateful for his example in showing me how to tend bar with style and grace. I am also thankful to John for introducing me to Vikki, who I married 36 years ago.

I met John in 1969 when he started tending bar for Pete Carter at the Cock & Bull on Broadway. We became friends, and I followed him through the several careers. The perpetual cynic, with a sly smile, and a very good boniface. Uncle Grumpy. Good fellow, a sad day. God Bless.
