Lawrence E. (Bob) Chapin passed away on Nov. 11, 2013, in Southeast Hospital, Cape Girardeau, after a fall in his home in Dudley, MO. He was born in Stanton, MI, in 1915, and moved to Pontiac, MI, as a young man where he worked 30 years as a driver for Boutell Co. delivering automobiles throughout the midwest and eastern U.S. Bob was married to wife Kathryn in Seattle, WA, just before he shipped out with the U.S. Navy in 1942. He served on a seaplane tender in the Pacific until war's end after which he returned to his job with Boutell. After his retirement he and Kathryn moved to Kansas City where their daughter lived. They became members of Holmeswood Baptist Church in 1979. In 2004 they moved to Dudley where their 2 sons lived. Bob was a kind and generous man. He is survived by son Miles G. Meadows and wife Pam of Dexter, MO, daughter Sharon Hill and husband Bill of Leawood, KS, and Janet Meadows, widow of son Thomas (Bud) of Dudley, MO. Survivors also include numerous grandchildren. He will be interred next to wife Kathryn after a memorial service on Dec. 2, in Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, MO. Arrangements made by Watkins and Son Funeral Home, Dexter, MO. The family requests any contributions in his memory be made to: Holmeswood Baptist Church, 9700 Holmes, K.C. ,MO. 64131.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Chapin. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
