1937 - 2012 Mary Virginia Allen, 75, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away December 27, 2012. Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at St. Peter's Church. The rosary will be prayed prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Greater Kansas City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn.: Donor Services, 1111 Main St., Suite 450, Kansas City, MO 64105. Mary was born Jan. 17, 1937, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Green) Rice, in Kansas City. She attended Redemptorist High School graduating in 1953. Mary worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Bendix Corporation. She was a member of St. Peter's Church and their Altar Society. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Delano; and her sister, Dorothy Kearns. She is survived by her children, Gerry Allen and wife Andrea; Steve Allen and wife Leslie; Dorothy Oestreich and husband Michael; and Mark Allen; and seven grandchildren, Archie, Alex, Logan, Amie, Hannah, Haley, and Brady. I have known Mary only a few short years, mainly thru St. Peter's Church and our Prayer Circle. Her faith was an inspiration to me. I shall miss her ready smile and gentle spirit. Knowing her was a blessing. May God bless all of you in this time of loss and sorrow.
