Rita, I'm so sorry to hear about Vern. I have tried to call but have the wrong number. Call anytime, I truly do understand.

I was so sorry to hear of Vern's passing. I greeted Vern and the Head Start bus many mornings. He always had a smile and a cheerful greeting. He went above and beyond in his caring and compassion for his young riders. He made a huge impact on their young lives. I am very sorry for your loss of this wonderful man.

Verney & I both graduated from Park Hill class of 1964. I also lived in Platte Woods. He was a great kid & I'm glad that we were friends. We had a talent show at the end of the school year all thru high school. All 3 years he & I did the same act together. I dresses up in a sailor suit & he wore a grass skirt & a coconut bra. He danced the hula while I sang a song from "South Pacific" called "Honey-bun". Everybody loved it so much they ask us to do it every year. Verney was such a fun guy & he always said yes to the request. That's one of my very favorite high school memories. I send my regards to his family in this time of sorrow. He will truly be missed.
