Virginia Ann Lowcock, 78, of Lawrence, KS, passed away June 23, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Virginia was born August 17, 1935, in Weatherford, OK, the daughter of Jake and Martha (Koch) Nikkel. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, July 3, 2014, at First Southern Baptist Church, 4300 W. 6th St., Lawrence, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alpha Christian Children's Home c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. An online Guest Book is available at www.dengelmortuary.com

Virginia and I were friends for a long time. I always enjoyed her directness and her sense of humor. She was a dear and I will miss her. May God comfort her beloved family. Mary Hale

Virginia was one of the special people in my life after college. She treated me and others just like her own sons and we often referred to her as mother. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.
