Donald Ringe...the Greatest Generation!!! Served his country in WW2 and Korea. Huge successes he attained after his military years. As a UK English professor who had authored numerous works, he experienced and enriched more lives than most of the rest of humanity can only imagine. What a massive inspiration he made of himself. His loved ones, colleagues and students have so much to be thankful that Donald Ringe graced their lives.
So sorry for your loss!

Don was a welcoming presence when I began my career at Kentucky, and a tremendous help when my work with Janet Eldred began to reach back into the early American period he knew so well. He was generous with his time and had a lovely sense of humor. My condolences to all in the Ringe family as you celebrate Don's exceptional life.

My deepest sympathy to the Ringe family during this sad occasion. May you find peace and comfort in the Holy Scriptures.

One of three job interviewers in a cramped Palmer Hotel room, in cold Chicago, in 1977, Don surely did warm up the room and he was a big reason why I came to the University of Kentucky. Generous with his time, a keen and clever critic of my writing, he modeled what it meant to be a good citizen of one's department, university, and community. What a legacy. So I am saddened by his family's loss, while gladdened to know he's with his beloved Lucy, and honored to have had his wisdom and guidance.
