Dr. Ringe was one of the giant trees in the landscape of the scholarship of early American literature. I also had him as a professor in graduate school, and he was a master teacher and mentor. Through his scholarship and his students, he leaves behind a rich legacy to be celebrated. My condolences to the Ringe family.

As my M.A. thesis advisor and professor in the 1980s, your father was both challenging and patient. He offered thoughtful advice and was kind and encouraging to beginning scholars. I was very fond of him, and I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry about your loss. I remember your Dad starting Christmas Eve Midnight Mass on many occasions. Our prayers are with you and your family.
