I was so saddened to learn of Gayle's transition. My prayers and thoughts have been with you and your children and other family members since I first heard and you all remain so as I write this note of condolence.
May the peace and the comfort of the Holy Spirit surround you and your family as you live the new norm of having only the sweet memories of Gayle as a wife, a mother, a friend, a relative, a teacher and all the other endearing titles she carried and hats she wore during her short life.
With heartfelt sympathy,
There are no words to express my feelings.... Gayle was one of the most beautiful people I met at FSU, she was very kind, sweet and friendly. Heaven has a beautiful angel, she is now with her son. May the love and trust you have in God comfort and strengthen you during this difficult time. Our thoughts are of you, our prayers are for you, and our hearts are with you.
May God continue to bless you,
I have so many fond memories of our days at Florida State. Gayle was the BEST! I know that you and your son and the rest of the family will cherish her memory forever. May she rest in peace, as I know that it has been a struggle for her over the last few years.

What an amazing Matriarch, who along her life journey lended her spirit, love, heart and mind to help many of us navigate our own lives. My heart breaks. But I know she is in an better place with our Lord and Savior. My prayers got out to entire family, Nick, Adrienne and Larry, I love you all.
To the survivors,The pryers of this Coconut Grove community in Miami Florida, certainly Understand the feeling of your lost and will never know how you feel.In this community Gail was the welcome warmth of early morning sunrise and just as the beautiful blue canvas that God uses for the ever moving clouds of all shapes, her essence had special attention from the creator(God). She was in possession of an unmatched uniqueness and she entered into a relationship more deserving than Coconut Grove could provide(in marriage). Not knowing her husband personally, brother Gaye, we thank you for being the fulfillment of providing the necessary love for her all the days of your lives together. If her destiny was here she wouldn't have been there. Only God knows the whole story, but be sure, we honor you and your family. She will forever remain where she will never grow old and certainly never die. In our heart. Be well, and because you are blessed,be strong.
Your Servant, Williams A. Armbrister& Family
Coach and Family,
Our deepest condolences for your loss. Coach, our paths crossed many times during our coaching careers and it was always delightful to see and talk w/Gayle who had such positive energy and a sincere and down-to-earth way of connecting with those around her. She was indeed special! Family, may her loving memory keep a smile in your heart and may God's Peace and Comfort remain with you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
I realize it's after 1/25/13 but I wanted to try and make contact with the family to let them know that I and my sister are truly sorry for your loss. I can remember Gayle being the first black cheerleader for the Coral Gables Cavaliers back in the late 60's. She always displayed pleasantries and kindness in her character and that is what I will remember her for. May her memories sustain you all in the remainder of your time on earth. Stay faithful in the Lord; trusting only Him for the steps you take in your journey. Love always, Joyce Dunn Mackey and Beverly "Sandy" Dunn of Coconut Grove.
To the Gay family certainly My friend is with the lord, and SMILING down on us.her soul is with the lord and knowing her as i have for many years maybe she would say with a since of laughter; 'peace be with all of you because i'm out of here'.
Larry and family we were out of town when gayle passed, so sorry about it. we just received a call today from a friend telling us about our love one. be strong in the lord, and if we can ease the pain please let us know. Love all of you. Alma and Winston Pittman
To the Gay & Andrews Family. May the Lord, Jesus Christ continue to love you and give you everlasting comfort and hope of an eternal reunion.
Gayle is my God Sister from the Golden Gates who lived in the big house with the long cherry hedge. That hedge had the biggest juicest cherrys in all Coconut Grove, FL. It was a known fact that Gayle's grandmother knew every cherry on that long hedge and nobody could pick them, so they got really big and purple looking juicy. One sad day in third grade due to some family issues of mine, Gayle took me to her house and we got permission from her Grandmother to pick two or three cherrys. Gayle taught me how to pick the best ones and how to look out for the ones with the worms. The first cherry I bit into squirted all over my collar and that was the first time I heard Gayle's laugh which I learned to love. Gayle taught me alot that day about sisterhood, which still has me smiling.
With sympathy and prayers
My sincerest condolence goes out to the Gay family for the loss of your loved one. We can look forward to seeing Gayle again when she hears Jesus' voice and comes out to a paradise, because God is going to make all things new.
Gayle, May your soul R.I.P. My heart is forever apart of you. Love Always your Goddie
To the Andrews family of Coconut Grove in Miami, Florida I want to say we all love Gayle and we will miss her greatly. It was just a year ago this month when she walked up to me and asked hey cuz remember me. And with that infectionous smile I said of course I know you because you are my family. Although I had just lost my dad she made me so happy because he talked about them that they were the 1st boy and girl born in the Andrews family. I join you all in her passing but we can honor her by seeing each other more than we have. We love you Gayle but God loves you best!
What can I say but I will miss my "home girl". I remember those times of her yelling in the stands to get us playing better. She really loved us and will always give us words of wisdom. Coach Gay, you know Gail kept a lot of us focus on being the best we can be, because she was so down to earth. She told us like it was, lol. I truly thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family, and I will continue to pray for your strength. Gail, I love you forever and a day. Tick also called Derrick Floyd

Dear Cuz, I will always remember you. Thanks for opening your home up to me when I was doing research in Lexington and Frankfort several years ago. I'll always remember, too, how you held my hand when Luther Vandross sang a lyric that resonated with some of your feelings about life. As I go forward, I will take a cue from my mom who loved you so much and appreciated the love you showed when my dad last year. Regarding your transition, my mom said, "We have another cheerleader in heaven looking over us." Thanks for your love and light, Cousin Gayle. Your work in school settings inspires me. I will try hard to make you proud.

I am really going to miss my good friend. However, I get relief and joy knowing that she is happy being with the Lord. Oh what joy filled her soul when Monday evening God reached down from above and ushered her on into His Gates. Oh how happy she must be now that she is with Anthony.

Gayle and I met on the Greyhound bus going to FSU in 1969 and instantly became loving, life-long friends. God created her with the heart to love unconditionally; and I will miss her terribily. I know she has found peace with the Lord and is reunited with Anthony, her angel. Be strong in the Lord and rely on His mighty Power (Ephesians 6:10). Love has no end.

Nick, I read through my message and I forgot to add that you were one of my Crosby children as well styling that box cut way back then. What a cutie! Your mom was so proud of her "babies". To coin a phrase from Sarah Palin, she was a pitbull in lipstick when it came to her children. I loved her and wish I could make it down for the funeral.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.
I, too, knew you from Crawford where, even as a short-term substitute, your warm smile embraced me and your welcoming arms enfolded me though you didn't even know me. You will always be held in remembrance by me.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. She will be truly missed.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN YOUR SORROW. THE GARRARD FAMILY IS KEEPING THE FAMILY IN PRAYER.
For a wonderful soul! You will be dearly missed
Mrs.Gay was like the favorite neighborhood mom! I remember going to the Gay house and not wanting to leave because she treated you like one of her own kids! Mrs. Gay, you are and will continue to be missed by many!! What a wonderful teacher and role model you were to the students and staff of Crawford Middle School. Many prayers for your family and the Crawford family. I love you!
I was a teacher at Crosby Middle School in Louisville, KY and had both Anthony and Adrienne in my class. Gayle was a devoted mother and had an enthusiastic, bubbly personality. I always enjoyed seeing her and she loved her family. I know her grandchildren will miss having such a lively, loving grandmother. I am so sorry to hear about her death. You can bet she is dancing in heaven right now with Christ watching over her loved ones and reuniting with Anthony.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I am really going to miss my good friend. I know she is resting in peace now. I can only imagine the glory and joy she had on Monday when she met her Blessed Maker. Now she and Anthony are joined again. I love her and will be very lonely without her! Crawford Middle School will never be the same.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We will miss her dearly at Crawford. Thank you for sharing her with us for so many years. May you find peace in how greatly she was loved.
