January 02, 2009
I just saw this today. I remember the first day of Bandy and Bailey on the radio in Louisville on 107.7 the Hawk. They made their debut on Halloween day. Then it became Bandy, Bailey and Beth. They started off the day with a laugh and even had my mom get me with "ice water wake up". I still can not believe what I read. You were a great gift to Louisville radio and made many laugh while you were here. I am so sorry for your family and friends. I guess to use a line that you used everyday to sign off, I guess you had to "pack up your toys and make a bye-bye. God Bless

How blessed we all are for having had Michael Bandy in our lives. We will miss him deeply. Our lives have been enriched because he chose to share himself with us everyday. My heartfelt sympathies to his family and loved ones. We will all see him again one day in heaven and until then we each will have a special place in our hearts just for him.
December 30, 2008
This is really sad about Bandy not being on the air anymore with Deidre and Jason. I listened to Bandy all the time and I saw him at the Red White and Boom concerts in the past. He was a riot on stage then. He will be missed dearly. My sypmpathies go out to his family and his friends. This was really sad news for the Lexington Metro listening area. He will always be remembered when I listen to the 92.9 The Bear and for the times he was on 98.1 the Bull also. I really enjoyed listening to the morning show with him on it and I will continue to listen in his memory.
December 30, 2008
Have been a loyal listener for many years and the Bandy and Bailey show has always made me smile and laugh - even on my worst days. This was a shock but I am grateful that he is no longer suffering. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends through this difficult time. Bandy was a great person and a lot of fun. He will be missed greatly. I will always be an avid fan of the show, it makes every day a little brighter. I am sure he's watching all of us and smiling! :-)
December 30, 2008
Michael was a talented, kind person. He and his team's contributions of time and talent for us at KY CHildren's Hospital are a great legacy to a man who left us too soon.
December 30, 2008
Radio has lost a wonderful man!!! We will always remember the good times, and laugh, not cry... Because thats what Bandy wanted...
December 30, 2008
How sad to learn about the loss of "Bandy". There are no words to express my condolences! My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and his radio station family - espcially Jason Bailey! God Bless!
December 30, 2008
We will miss your morning advice and fun to start our day. We will also remember the "little additions" you and Bailey added to the songs.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
December 30, 2008
You touched our hearts and made us laugh every day, we will never forget you. Radio has suffered a great loss.
December 30, 2008
Bandy you will certainly be missed. I looked forward to listening to you guys every morning. Rest in Peace dear friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bandy family and with Jason and everyone else at the Bear. God bless.
December 30, 2008
I have been listening to Bandy and Bailey in the Morning since The Bull and have had the pleasure of talking with him many times at different events, I even have a Chihuahua that we call Bandy because he reminds my of the Bandy that we would hear on the radio (funny). Michael Bandy will be missed for a long time to come and my heart goes out to his family and friends.
December 30, 2008
Bandy touched so many lives like mine through the radio. Never knew him personally but he and the crew made my day. I was so sadden to hear the news its our loss and heavens gain. His memories that he has created with his friends and loved ones will live on forever. I am thankful that Bandy walk through my life in such a small way. God bless you Bandy and your family. Jason I expect you to have a "Bandy Day" to honor him every year :)
December 30, 2008
I never realized until you were gone how much I relied on everyone on Bandy and Bailey to start my day out right. You will be missed and I will still listen to the show as long as it exists.
December 30, 2008
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED TO TURN MY RADIO ON EVERY MORNING AND LISTEN TO YOU, YOU HELPED A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE A BETTER DAY, JUST BY BEING YOU. MORNING RADIO WILL NOT BE THE SAME. WE MOVED TO FLORIDA IN JULY OF THIS YEAR, ONE THING I MISS WAS LISTENING TO YOU ON THE WAY TO WORK EVERY MORNING, YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL THE LOYAL LISTENERS, AND YOU DID A LOT OF GOOD TO HELP LEXINGTON AND SURRENDING COUNTIES. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE, GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOUR FAMILY
December 30, 2008
Michael, rest in peace...You're a wonderful person that brought a smile to many each day--including me. It was a pleasure working with you, and mostly, knowing you. I'll always remember the times we spent together and the laughs we shared.
December 30, 2008
Only had the privilege of meeting him this year, but Michael was a great guy for sure. He will definitely be missed.
December 30, 2008
Your really gonna be missed. this was the only radio show I actually made a point to listen to. Bandy and Bailey both made my days, they were so good together. my thoughts and prayers are with the family and everyone at the station during this time. You are sadly missed.
December 29, 2008
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
December 29, 2008
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Michael,

May you rest in peace. Thanks for being such a nice person. Peace be with you and your family.
December 29, 2008
I waited until now and I still can't find the words to express myself. There are so many wonderful Bandy memories to cherish. Bandy even made me laugh when I lost my dad. I still owe him the 3 wheeled mercedes! Our friendship has been so rewarding. I just regret that Pike County took over my life and we didn't get to reunite in Lexington. "Wherever you are it is your friends who make your world." Thanks Bambi and Jason for having me be be a part of Bandy's world.
Amber and Scarlett will never be the same! It is difficult to let loved ones go, but the memories we have will never fade. Take care and I promise to spend more time with you guys.
December 29, 2008
I've been listening to him and Bailey on the radio for as long as I can remember. But just know that as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you.. He will be missed!!
December 27, 2008
I'm very sorry to hear this about Mike , I love their radio show. You would of never thought he was sick by listing to the show . He hid it pretty good . I met all of them one time when they were giving away the truck in Lexington,KY. They all signed a tee shirt for us. Will miss him alot. To his family I'm so sorry for your lose. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
December 27, 2008
Bandy will live on forever in our memories and always remember how easy he made our rides to work with the humor and friendship that he shared with Jason and Deidre. My prayers are with Jason, Deidre and Bandys family. God Bless all of you.
December 26, 2008
I have missed hearing Bandy on the morning show for several weeks now. I have been wondering where he was. I found out this morning on my way to work. I pulled up the story on-line and confirmed my suspicions. I was shocked! Eventhough we only knew him casually, what a hard hit to take. Sympathies to his Mother, sister and immediate family. To Jason, your loss is insurmountable! You can certainly hold your own, but it just doesn't sound the same. You and Diedra stay strong. Michael's contagious laugh will be sorely missed every morning in Lexington.
December 26, 2008
I was truly saddened when I heard that Bandy had passed away. I didn't know him, but I feel like I knew him. He and Jason and Deirdre become like family when you hear them every morning. I so enjoyed listening on my way to work--wouldn't listen to any other station. You all always made me laugh at some point, even if I was having a bad day. Bandy was such hoot. I know that you all will miss him terribly, but the whole area will miss him as well. He touched so many lives with joy and laughter. I am sure now, though, that in heaven's airwaves, there is a new morning show featuring none other than Michael Bandy. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. God Bless you all.
December 26, 2008
I am so saddened by the death of Michael Bandy. I have listened to you guys for years -- before you went to Atlanta and since your return. I love to hear the happiness in your voices each morning. I loved Michael's droll humor. I know God is laughing every minute with Michael. Rest with the angels, Michael -- we love you and will not forget you
December 26, 2008

December 26, 2008
I am so sorry to here of Michael's passing.. I started listening to Bandy and Bailey when they first came to Lexington and have been hooked ever since. Jason and Deidra you have lost a great friend, as we all have. May you find comfort with your memories. He was a very likeable person... I miss his voice on the radio. There was only one Michael Bandy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all of his faithful listeners. May God Bless.....
December 26, 2008
I live in Shelbyville, but work in Louisville and would listen to Bandy and Bailey every morning. I would listen for as long as the station would come in clear and the minute that I couldn't hear them anymore I would put in a CD. I couldn't bring myself to tune into a Louisville station, my loyalty was always with Bandy and Bailey. He brought so much joy to me everyday. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michael's family and friends. Jason, Diedra, Dickie, and the rest of the crew keep up the good work; my thoughts and prayers are with you. Michael Bandy will be missed.
December 25, 2008
May the family find comfort in the Lord during this difficult time. He will be missed by so many people. He had such a large family within the listening radio community and I am proud to say that I was one of them. God Bless You!
December 25, 2008
Listen, this photo is the way I will always see you. A man of great spirit, quick wit, talent and charm....all those gifts. God just needed him more. Our loss is Heaven's gain. I won't ever enter the station for work and see it the same. Rest in Peace.....
December 25, 2008
I will miss you brother.
December 25, 2008
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I didn't know him personally, but enjoyed listening to him on the Bear! God Bless
December 25, 2008
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
December 25, 2008
What a loss for radio listeners. I could always count on you for an early morning laugh. My drive to work won't be the same. My heart goes out to Jason, Deidre and those who were close.
December 25, 2008
It was such a shock to hear of Bandy's passing. He was such a great guy. I don't think he realized how many peoples day he had a big influence in making it a great day for them just by listening to Bandy and Bailey in the morning. I,am sure many people got a lot of laughs just as I did while traveling mornings. My daughter works in Frankfort and many mornings she called on her way to work laughing and telling me something funny Bandy had said. He made both of our days and never knew it. His personality is one I will never forget. He touched many many lives and that influence will remain with them for the rest of their lives. I know it will mine. Rest in Peace Bandy and thank you for making my days when otherwise I might not have had a good one. I will never forget you. May Bailey and
Diedre continue their great work and
"I LOVE BANDY AND BAILEY IN THE MORNING AT 92.9 the BEAR." God Bless Bandy and all who knew and worked with him. What a GREAT LOSS I know it is for you. He would want you to be strong and will always be watching over and guiding you as if he was there in person.
December 25, 2008
My thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family....Brenda, Helen and Mindy. My heart goes out to all of you.
December 25, 2008

I am very sorry to hear of Bandy's passing. He and Bailey were my favorite DJs on Atlanta radio. Kicks has not been the same. I hope that the family can find some comfort knowing he entertained the lives of so many people. God bless.
December 24, 2008
I did not know Bandy personally but felt that he was part of my family. He would have fit in comfortably with us. I listened to Bandy & Bailey on my way to work and have missed him over the past little knowing that he was in ill health. God bless you Bandy and you will be missed by all your family and friends. My prayers will be with your family so they may better understand.
December 24, 2008

December 24, 2008
I meet Bandy & Bailey on a Crusie serveral years ago. I enjoy them in the morning on Kicks 101.5. Sorry to hear he is gone. He will be missing dearly. My heart goes out to the family at the time of year. Just remember that he is in a better place now. I know I have lost my baby brother 4 years ago. And my mother in law last Thanksgiving and my own mother this past June. My Prayers are with the Family.
December 24, 2008
I did not know Bandy personally, but have listened to the morning show daily. He will truly be missed. Prayers go out to family and all who knew him.
December 24, 2008
You will be deeply missed. Your antics with your co-hosts in the morning brightened my days and reminded me to take time to enjoy life and Laugh. Thank you!
December 24, 2008
I have listened to Bandy and Bailey since the early 90's when they were on 98.1. Although I do not know them personally they are great and dear people who always made me laugh. I am shocked and saddened by this news and will keep his family and friends in my prayers. God Bless.
December 24, 2008
I am so sorry for the loss of Michael Bandy. I didn't know him personally but felt as if I did. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. He cannot be replaced and will always be remembered by those who listened to his show.
December 24, 2008
Just remembering his voice and his great appeal to the masses brings a smile to my face......what a talent Mike was! I worked with him and Jason at the John Michael Montgomery Golf Benefit for several years....even joining them in the studio....what a great memory. They were so welcoming and spared no expense in including me in their antics......I'll never forget Mike being in my massage chair and asking about clients drooling on my feet! It is comforting to know he spent his final days here at St. Joe's Hospice unit, my family spent time there a few months ago when we lost our dad, and I am certain he received the most loving and professional care there can be at such a time. Jason, my heart is broken for your loss, but I'm sure Mike will be hanging around the studio for a long time. May God bring his family peace during this very difficult time.
December 24, 2008
I wondered why I hadn't heard Bandy on the air for a while. Now I know. I love your show...Bandy & Bailey and Deidre. I always got a laugh on my drive to work that helped make my day. Bandy, you will be so missed. Jason and Deidre, hang in there. I love your show. You will be in my prayers.
December 23, 2008
April Gullett, Long time fan I will miss you Bandy
December 23, 2008
I am deeply saddened and at a loss for words like so many others I am sure. Michael Bandy was a very special part of the morning crew. To Jason and Diedre my heart goes out to you and Michael's family. We all have a very special angel above looking down on us. Please play some of Bandy's favorite songs for us and most of all for him. Bandy you left us way too soon, but you will never be forgotten. I will miss you!
December 23, 2008
December 23, 2008
Please know that Bandy's immediate family and his radio family will be in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Bandy will be missed more than you know. Even though I didn't know him personally, after listening to him every single day for years I feel as though I did know him and the news of his passing was a complete shock and the sadness I felt was so profound that it actually took me off guard. It felt like I had lost a close friend. All of us in Central KY have indeed lost a friend. We will miss him terribly.
December 23, 2008
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
December 23, 2008
I am so deeply saddened by Michael's passing. His gift to the world was laughter - he brought laughter to me many times over the past 10 years or so. I will miss him, but I know the sadness that I feel doesn't compare to the loss that Jason and Deidre feel; the loss that his family feels; the loss of the laughter that his radio family will feel. God blessed us by allowing us to receive his humor. He will be remembered.
December 23, 2008
Don't make it "bleepin' sad! My favorite memory of the antics of Bandy was when he discovered the joy of baby wipes while over at Jason's house and no toilet paper was to be found. You gotta love a guy that can say that on the radio!

Remember the good times!
December 23, 2008
I have always listened to the Bandy and Bailey in the morning. I will miss his comedy and how him and Jason always gave dedria a hard time. My thought and prayers are with everyone that knew him.
December 23, 2008
Please accept our deepest sympathies.
December 23, 2008
My deepest sympathy to Michael Bandy's family and friends. I've listened to him for years and I'm in total shock that such a young talented man has been taken from us. I will never forget his voice.
December 23, 2008
MAY THE LORD BLESS THIS FAMILY .FOR THIS MAN WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON. YOU MADE LAUGH AND CRY AND OTHERS ALSO. I WENT WITH YOU TO THE NEW STATION AND WILL STAY THERE CAUSE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THERE. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY.
December 23, 2008
Michael,
You are a dear friend of mine and hold a special place in my heart. It has been about 15 years since i last saw you and I am heart broken that we did'nt keep in touch over the years. I am so happy to hear that you were able to have your dream job and that the rest of the world were able to see what I already knew, that you were a wonderful person and always made me laugh.

My heart goes out to your family.

Love,
December 23, 2008
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
December 23, 2008
God's peace to Jason and Deidre for the loss of a great friend and radio personality, Bandy. Our mornings will never be the same.
December 23, 2008
My radio misses your voice. My heart aches that you're gone. What wonderful memories Central KY has of your funny stories and antics. God bless your family and co-workers.
December 23, 2008
Great memories for all of us. He gonna be missed.
December 23, 2008
I was truly saddened when I heard the news of his passing. His work with the UK Children's Network Telethon will hold a special memory to me and all the money raised for this worthy cause. He will be greatly missed by one and all. Prayers go out to his family as well as Diedre and Jason as they lost not only a coworker but a dear friend.
December 23, 2008
I can't believe Bandy is gone. His special memory will live with us always. I'm sure Deidre and Bailey will continue to remind us all what a special, wonderful person he was. 92.9 and it's listeners will truly miss him. God bless his friends and family!
December 23, 2008
I cannot express just how sad I am going to feel not hearing Bandy's voice on the radio every day. He has been a joy to listen to over the years and will be greatly missed. You cannot replace a talent such as his.
December 23, 2008
Bandy's passing has been on my mind so much the last few days. The irony is that I never met him, never talked to him and only saw him in passing at concerts. He didn't know my name, or that I even existed, but for the life of me, I can't stop thinking about this loss. After reading a few of the messages here and on other boards, I don't think I'm alone.
But Bandy gave so much of himself through the radio to his listeners, that we really did know him, so we are truly feeling the grief of his loss.
Someone mentioned his laugh and I have to agree! He had the fullest "belly laugh" that I've ever heard. Even if the subject wasn't that funny, just hearing his laughter brought a smile to my face.
To Michael's family and to Jason...My heart goes out to you. Draw on the strength of your family & friends (even those who's names you don't know) and continue on in the manner that Bandy would have wanted.
December 23, 2008
I remember when the bull played Garth Brooks all weekend that was the first time I heard Bandy on the raido. I have listened ever since. He will be a great loss to all of those who knew him and to those who didn't get a chance what a big loss. Bandy and Jason were a great team together. Our community has suffered such a great loss. To his family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
December 23, 2008
All of my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of a great man who will be dearly missed. His great personality always helped to get my day started right. God bless!
December 23, 2008
I feel like I have lost one of my best friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and the 92.9 The Bear Staff.

December 23, 2008
My prayers are with his family and friends He going to be so missed. He at peace now to more suffer.May God bless you All
December 23, 2008
My deepest sympathy goes out to the Bandy family in this time of sadness. My thoughts and prayers are also with Jason and Deidre, as they have lost a best friend and their children also lost their Uncle Michael. This is a terrible loss for anyone who knew Michael and he will truly be missed. You could tell every morning that he loved what he did, he loved his radio family and he truly loved his listeners. My only comfort is that he is now with the "big voice in the heaven's" and he is watching over us all.
December 23, 2008
I'm still in shock! His voice and humor will surely be missed every morning. I have so many memories of him at "The City", it's just so hard to believe he's gone. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and radio family also.
December 23, 2008
Bandy was a brilliant broadcaster with a tremendous heart. I worked with him in the late 90s at WBUL and will never forget not only the on-air antics, but the great times we all had together. We could talk for hours about cars and, of course, radio. I love to talk shop, but Bandy took it to a whole new level. The radio world has lost one of its most passionate stewards. The Lexington dial won't be the same without him. RIP Bandy.
December 23, 2008
I am very sorry for his death, my sister listend to him.
December 23, 2008
My thoughts & prayers go out to Bandy's family, radio family & friends. He was a wonderful sweet guy that could always make me laugh. He will be greatly missed. Mornings wont be the same without him.

I will always remember meeting Michael at Austin City in Lexington with Jason and Deidra. He took pictures with me and my best friend and was the nicest guy around. We chatted about having relatives from Baxter, TN. I was so saddened to hear he has passed away. It was because of him that I began donating to Childrens Hospital. I will keep his family in prayer and never forget his laughter. May God bless you all. Salena Waugh

I am so sorry to hear this. It is so ironic because just two days ago a man passed me at Starbucks and I asked my friend if that was our old high school mate Michael Bandy. I haven't seen Michael since we graduated in 1989. He was a really great guy! He will be missed by many.
December 22, 2008
When we heard the news about Michael, it was a great shock and very tragic loss for all his fans and our community. His humor and fun gave us smiles and laughter every morning. He is sadly missed by us all and will always be remembered with fondness and love. No one will ever replace him in our heart. Our prayers go out to his friends and family and hope the support and kindness of all these entries help ease their pain by knowing he touched so many lives positively each and every day.

I am just can not believe that this all true. When I moved here I fell in love with Bandy and Bailey and Beth and now Deidre. When they left and moved to Atlanta is just was not the same. When I heard them on the radio again when they came back it was great! I missed not hearing Bandy lately and now we know why. He is laughing and having a great time on the other side. Jason I can not imagine loosing my best friend. You both have shared and told so many stories and the things you have done and what fun! You both have made us laugh for so long. Thanks for sharing and we hope that you continue to share more stories. Son... We all are right there with you and the family because we feel this loss too. There will always just be one #1 Bandy. Mercedes and Bentley have lost their #1 fan.Country Radio has lost a gem way to early in life and it will take a long time to get over this loss....

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I never listened to country music and one day flipping channels I heard Bandy and Bailey. They cracked me up so I would listen to them and then channel surf through the music. Then I got to the point where I was missing too much of the funny parts of their show so I would start listening through music and it grew on me. But my favorite parts are still listening to Bandy and Baily and the B team. Bandy will always be remembered for the joy he gave others.

I had my picture taken standing between the two of them and I always loved it but now I will treasure it even more. No matter what my mood I always got a good laugh or a smile listening to the show and will continue to do so for as long as it airs, but it will be sad not to hear his voice. Heartfelt prayers to his family, friends, and to Bailey, Deidre, Chris, Dickey and the whole Cumulus Family. God Speed.
