All three of Milton's grandchildren spoke from their hearts at his funeral. The following is Grant's eulogy for his grandfather:

“Today we bury a very important and strong man. We make an attempt to comfort a grieving widow after 70 years of marriage. We make a vow to retain the family that remains. We remember a hardworking farmer that dedicated his life to his family and his community. Milton Edward Wilson had his nose to the grindstone every single day of his life and I feel honored and privileged to have been a part of his life. He worked to make his life and the lives of those in Jessamine County better. He worked to provide for his family. He worked because he couldn't stand to live one day where he didn't accomplish something.

He was a rock, a dedicated foundation to our family. I can only hope to live up to the high standard he set. For now I grieve, I laugh at old memories, and I hold my family close. For this is the time that we are tested in the eyes of The Lord, the time that we rediscover our love for each other, the time that we celebrate life and all that it has to offer us, with both the good times, and the sorrows that make us appreciate them.

You worked and took care of us in our deepest time of need, when Mom was in the hospital for two months and Dad was working two jobs. You sold me my first car and then helped me fix my car when I wrecked. You taught me how to make homemade ice cream. You taught me how to pick green beans from the farm, break them, and then can them. You taught me how to shoot pool, even though you played with a trick cue ball and confused the hell out of me. You woke me up at 5:00 A.M. cooking sausage in a cast iron skillet, while I slept on your couch. You built a family that can be apart for months at a time, yet can come together and make it seem as though time has never passed.

May God bless you Pop, and may you find a moment to rest in heaven, as we all know you never took the time to do it here. We will always love you, we will always remember you, and you are the man than every man wants to be. I love you.”
