Truman Wells and his late brother Bruce of Shelbyville dropped out of high school to serve our country during World War 2. It was my honor to plan the celebration for the Shelby County Board of Education in 2009 to award both men a diploma through the Department of Veteran Affairs. Each still had the small New Testament that was signed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Truman was also excited because his grandson was graduating from Anderson County High School that same year. He and Lois have remained dear friends of mine since that time. What a man! What a woman! What fond memories!
