Billy Fields Obituary

LA GRANGE - William Woodrow "Billy" Fields, 88, of La Grange, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014. Billy was born October 19, 1925, in Lenoir County to the late Harvey Brown Fields and Estelle Walker Fields. Billy served with the United States Army during World War II and was a retired tobacco farmer. He was a member of Woodmen Of The World and The American Legion. Billy enjoyed trips to the coast and fishing. A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, April 20, 2014 at 3 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Billy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lenora Coltrain Fields; two sons, John W. Fields and wife Maria, of Bradenton, Fla. and Charles R. Fields and wife Sharon, of Richmond, Va.; grandson John C. Fields and wife Brenda, of Bradenton, Fla.; two great-grandsons, Eric and Christopher Fields; and a sister, Lillian Dvorak of Orlando, Fla. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark W. Fields. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
