BARNARD, DORIS "DOT" DEAN - age 76, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Briarcliff Health Care Center. She was born September 25, 1936 in Columbia County, Arkansas, the daughter of Nellie and Walker Barnett. Mrs. Barnard attended Batley Baptist Church and Poplar Creek Baptist Church. In younger years, she was active with a CB Club and was known as Candy Cane. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, cooking, playing the piano, singing and flower arranging. She also enjoyed working in her yard and was known for her skills in landscaping. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dewey Fred Barnard; daughter, Deborah Kay Mitchell and husband, Richard, of Oak Ridge; sister, Elizabeth Taylor of Clinton; and two grandchildren, to whom she was known as "Mawmaw", Kristy K. Duncan Horner of Jackson, MI and her husband, Damond, and Arnold Dwayne Duncan and wife, Tammy, of Oak Ridge; and their father, Alver Arnold Duncan and wife, Mari-Margaret, of Clinton. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. James Canaday officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to your local Humane Society.
