I had Dr. Vanaman for Math and he was most supportive of me as I earned a minor in math, and I later taught math. He was such a kind hearted soul, His faith in God as he always began classes with a prayer will forever hold a special place in my memories of CN.
(I was just browsing the CN website and looking for inf. on my 50th Reunion and found his obituary. My best to his family as happy memories continue to sustain you.
Blessings,
Lilian Robinson Rhudy, Class of 1963

I have such fond memories of Dr. Vannaman as my teacher. He was so kind and patient to all of us, never in too much of a hurry to help us find the answers. He was an encourager, a teacher, a mentor, a friend. His kindness and concern in and out of the classroom helped me later to become the kind of teacher who was never too busy to listen and to help a student. For all he taught me, besides math, I am forever thankful.

Dr. Vanaman was one of the "great ones" at C-N! His life, his teaching, his ministry......touched thousands!!!

"Well done good and faithful servant!"

Appreciatively,

Dr. Vanaman was a dear sweet man, whom I always enjoyed being around as I grew up being best friends with his daughter Bonnie. He was like a second Daddy to me. Bonnie and and I were both PKs (professor kids).

I remember very fondly Dr. Vanaman's classes while I was a student at Carson Newman. Also, I loved seeing and speaking to him at the opera in Knoxville in recent years. He was a great teacher and a fine man. I'll miss seeing him. My sympathy to his family. He leaves behind many wonderful memories for many people.
