Bob Baker Obituary

Bob Baker, the founder of one of America's oldest puppet theaters, died Friday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 90.

The cause of death was kidney failure, his biographer, Gregory Williams, said.

The Bob Baker Marionette Theater captivated children and adults with its ornate wooden puppets and props. The theater was a vestige of the days when marionettes were widely used on stage and television and playhouses dotted the streets of downtown Los Angeles. Read more at dailynews.com

Performed at our schools in the 1960's throughout our community when I was a child, and for another generation thereafter. Brought smiles, fun entertainment and happiness to all. This world needs more contributors like Bob.

Bob was a real treasure and will be greatly missed. I met him in 2001 developing reproductions of his designs and he was a joy to work with; we remained friends. Thanks to Charles Phoenix for the fabulous 90th birthday party for Bob...it was very special.

I also fondly remember him visiting my elementary school in Montrose CA in the late 1950s. We always looked forward to it. He brough joy to many!

I remember bob baker in gramer school. Every year he would perform, and it was a real treat. So sorry, I will remember him and His puppets as long as I live.
